Nancy Weis’s Website of the Week: Harbin Snow and Ice Festival

This week: Taking Advantage of the Cold

Harbin Snow and Ice Festival
Photographer R. Todd King visited Harbin, China in the winter of 2003, and has published his photographs of their amazing ice festival. There is a whole city made of ice and lit by brilliantly colored lights, with multi-story buildings, bridges, sculptures, ice walkways lit from below, ice mazes, and a long ice slide. Separate from the ice village is a sculpture garden of snow carvings made by teams of artists from around the world.

Elsewhere on the website are King’s photos from other parts of China, Maine, and other places.
