Here are some of our circulation policies:
How many items can be borrowed at one time?
The number of videos/DVDs that can be checked out or requested at one time is 5. The number of books is 15. The maximum number of items that can be checked out or requested combined is 15. For example you can have out 5 videos/ DVD’s and 10 books or 3 videos/DVD’s and 12 books.
How long can library material kept?
Loan period on videos/DVD’s is 1 week (2 weeks by mail).
Loan period on books/audios is 4 weeks.
Videos/DVDs are not renewable.
Books and Audios can be renewed once as long as the item does not have a hold on it.
How does one know material requested through the library’s catalog has been received?
After pressing the submit button the following message will appear.
“Your request has been successfully submitted’.
Once the request is filled or checked out to that person it will show up on their library account.
How long does it take to receive an item requested?
If we own the item here at the Hartness Library and its available it should be received it within 3 to 5 business days. If another VSC library owns the item and it’s available it can take 5 to 10 business days to receive and if we have to get an item from outside the VSC system it can take 10 to 14 business days to receive. If an item isn’t available you will be notified within 3 to 5 business days.
Student borrowing privileges
To receive library service students need to be registered for the current semester.
About Interlibrary Loan(ILL)
Through Interlibrary Loan Faculty, Students, and Staff can request material not available in the VSC catalog provided it’s for their academic or works needs. Requests for ILL material can be made through the multiple library search link in our catalog or by filling out one of our online request forms available on website at: http://hartness.vsc.edu/hartness/forms/forms.php
Please note: You are only allowed to request or have out a maximum of 5 interlibrary loan items at one time. How long you can keep the material is determined by the lending library.
